Goodman is the most installed HVAC brand in the United States by volume. Founded in Houston, Texas in 1975 by Harold Goodman, the company built its reputation on affordable, straightforward equipment that any contractor can install and service. Daikin Industries acquired Goodman in 2012 for $3.7 billion.
Today Goodman equipment is manufactured at the Daikin Texas Technology Park in Waller, Texas — the largest HVAC manufacturing facility in North America. Open distribution combined with Daikin's global supply chain gives Goodman unmatched parts availability across the U.S.
The standard GSX14 and GSX16 lines satisfy most residential replacement needs at 14–16 SEER2. The GSXC18 two-stage and GSXC20 variable-speed models reach 18–22 SEER2. Since Daikin ownership, Goodman's engineering has improved — current-generation units use Daikin's scroll compressor technology.
Goodman's supply chain is its strongest selling point. Open distribution means parts and equipment are stocked at virtually every HVAC supply house in the country — Wesco, Johnstone, Ferguson, and beyond. The Daikin Texas Technology Park manufactures over 6 million HVAC units per year. During the 2021–2022 supply chain crisis, Goodman was among the better-performing brands for equipment lead times.
